José Manuel González-Páramo

Born in Madrid, in 1958. He is PhD in Economy with honors from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and holds another PhD from the University of Columbia (New York).
Professional career
Between 1994 and 2004 he was a member of the Executive Commission in the Governing Council of the Bank of Spain. From 2004 to 2012, he was executive director and member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank.
From 2013 to 2020, he served as executive director and general manager of Economy, Regulation and Institutional Relations and chair of the International Advisory Committee of one of the main Spanish financial institutions. Currently, he is Chairman of the Supervising Council of European DataWarehouse GmbH, and European DataWarehouse Ltd.
In the academic field, he is a Professor since 1988 and director of the Public Taxation of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and also teaches programs for high-level executives (CEO, CFO, CRO and others) at IESE Business School.
Additionally, González-Páramo has joined several working groups, advisory boards, foundations and other international entities and bodies of the economic, academic and cooperation fields, such as the International monetary Fund, the World Bank, the OECD and the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, among others. Currently, he is a member of the boards of directors of Bruegel and Cercle d’Economia, and of the advisory boards of Bretton Woods Committee and Systemic Risk Council, among other institutions.
In September 2022, he was appointed member of the Board of Directors of ABANCACorporación Bancaria, S.A.
