Born in Valencia in 1964. Full Professor of Economics in Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). Economics graduate from Universitat de Valencia. PhD in Economics from Harvard University.
Professional career
He was a lecturer at the Universidad de Valencia and at Harvard University. Consultant for the European Union, the OECD, the World Bank, and the Inter-American Development Bank, among other organizations and companies. He has served as an independent director on the Board of Directors of Catalunya Banc, where he chaired the Audit Committee, director of the Economic and Social Council of Catalonia, and member of the boards of trustees of various foundations.
He has received several awards and honors, the most recent being the Catalonia Prize for Economics (2018), the UPF Medal for Distinguished Services (2018), the Jaime I Prize for Economics (2019), and the National Award for Public-Private Collaboration in Science and Innovation of Catalonia (2023).
He is currently a Professor of Economics at the Universidad Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and a research professor at the IVIE (Instituto Valenciano de Investigaciones Económicas) and the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE).
In August 2014, he was appointed director of the Board of Directors of NCG Banco, S.A. (currently ABANCA Corporación Bancaria, S.A.).
