This department manages the design, development and implementation of the strategies aimed at the management of ABANCA’s finances by managing the budget, cost-benefit assessment, financial performance assessment, and the implementation of best practices aimed at ensuring profits, meeting the strategic and profitability targets of the bank. It is also the area in charge of generating and communicating the financial information of the bank, whether it is internal or official reports.

His duties are essentially focused on maximising the efficiency of the technological architecture, engineering, the development and operation of the IT applications and infrastructure as well as the processes, the innovation and the implementation of project and general services aimed at operational excellence and cost efficiency.

This department is responsible for the recruitment, retention, management, development and training of the human capital of the bank, by implementing the organisational best practices and the development of human talent the organisation requires. It is also responsible for the management and strengthening of the corporate climate and its cultural values.
Juan Luis Vargas-Zúñiga Mendoza
Market capital, institutional management and distribution
Manages the strategies and the development of products in the areas of financial, foreign Exchange and derivative markets, as well as the strategies and the development of the Treasury offices and those of Own Treasury and the duties of back office. He is also in charge of the specialised marketing of mutual funds and pension plans aimed at bank customers and managed through a variety of channels.

Corporate Social Responsibility and Communication
The mission of this department is to integrate within the governance of the entity those management elements that are necessary to implement a responsible, citizen-oriented company that contributes to a sustainable development to the satisfaction of stakeholders and is able to transparently communicate both externally and internally the real possibilities of assistance and support to the needs of society in coordination with Afundación. At the same time, it centralises the relationship with mass media and social networks and well as the relations the bank establishes with a variety of institutions and organisations.
Juan María Hernández Andrés
Development of individual assets
Its main role is the management of the strategies and development of the area of the Recovery Department, which includes the roles and processes of collections and recoveries of Large Companies, or Corporative recoveries, Massive Recoveries (both SME and Families) and management of lawsuits and write-offs. It is also in charge of the development of property business, as regards both own property assets and foreclosed assets, through the procedures of asset acquisition and operations, commercial management of land and works under way, building supervision and sales and marketing of real property and commercial strategy and management. Finally, this department is also responsible for managing and adding value to its investee portfolio.
José Luis Vázquez Fernández
In the pursuit of preserving the best quality in the investment portfolio and in order to contribute to the sustainable growth of the entity with an adequate risk-adjusted return, this department is responsible for managing the design, development and implementation of the strategies in the area of credit risk management. It is, therefore, responsible for aligning and steering the Admission and Assessment of credit risk to the risk profile defined by the bank, propitiate a good instrumentalisation and formalisation of the key financial asset products so as to minimize operational risk and ensures the strength of collaterals and ensuring an efficient monitoring of outstanding credit that faithfully supports the correct classification of the credit investment portfolio. Therefore, these duties must be implemented in accordance with the strategic planning of the organization and the norms and regulations in force both domestically and internationally.
Alfonso Caruana Cámara
His duties are essentially focused on the management of the design, development and implementation of the marketing strategies for non-resident customers and foreign trade, as well as the management and operation of the international commercial management (through the operational and representative offices abroad) aimed at retaining and attracting new customers, ensuring the delivery of quality services and cost-efficient management.

This department essentially focuses on the commercial management of the bank. On the one hand, it manages the daily operations of the commercial networks for customers in Spain that includes individual customers, SMEs, companies, corporations and institutional customers. On the other hand, it designs, develops and implements the marketing strategies for the products and services aimed at the above profiles. Additionally, among the responsibilities of this department are other roles in the service of the networks, including Marketing, on-line banking, remote banking services, costumer intelligence and Methods of payment (issuing and acquiring), aimed at attracting, developing and retaining customers, ensuring quality services in an efficient manner.

Corporate control and risks
This department is in charge of the design, development and implementation of the strategies for the identification, monitoring, control and risk mitigation, prevention of losses and business continuity of the bank, ensuring a correct implementation of management strategies in accordance with the norms and regulations, the interests of stakeholders and the complexity of the operations, products and services of the organisation.

Corporate governance and legal affairs
It is part of the second line of defence of the bank and its main responsibilities are legal and tax counselling for the entity, the Secretary’s Office of the Board of Director and its Commissions ensuring the application and updating of the System of Corporate Governance of the Bank in accordance with the governance best practices as well as compliance with statutory duties, including the prevention of money laundering, the financing of terrorism and Customer service.
D. Julián Serrapio Vigo
Its mission consists in providing support to corporate governance as regards the efficiency and efficacy of the internal control system by participating in the implementation of an optimal risk control environment, risk management and compliance with the legal norms and regulations in place for the management of the institution in order to ensure and provide safety and soundness in the achievement of the objectives, strategies and the functional and operational management.
